--------- end of Today's Sponsor ----------------

Hello There ... Great To See You again! We have a lot to do today, as we start now with the "let's get our hands dirty" work of researching and choosing your first niche site ... are you ready for it?

I know I am!

-------------Side Note-------------
You may find that the best way to approach this eCourse is to print each lesson out and find a nice quiet place to read it through. After you have read it through once, go back online and read it again, and as you do, click on the reference links. The bottom line of course, is whatever way works best for you. However, I have found that by reading it through and then going over it a second time, things are clearer and I don't miss things.
-----------------------------------

Before we move on, let's go over quickly what we talked about so far. A little review never hurt anyone and it is a great way to see just how far you have come.

We talked about niches and what they were. Now you know that there are 1000s of niches out there looking for goods or services and for each niche idea there is an affiliate program out there that you can weave in and make an income with. We talked about how "Internet Marketing" is a niche, a huge one actually, and of course that brings with it a great deal of competition. Because of that, many of the well known "Internet Marketing" guru's are getting out of this niche and finding paths less travelled and of course equally profitable.

That of course is the path we are showing you, over the course of these 7 Days. We are helping you find a niche, outside of the "Internet Marketing" niche - you must get away from all the competition out there and take the path of least resistence.

Now, that doesn't mean that you throw your hands up in the air and bail on the programs you are currently involved with. Keep them, however, and I repeat, with the knowledge you gain here over the 7 Days you will be able to work "smarter, not harder" when it comes to marketing them.

Yesterday we looked at niches and how to get rolling in one. The best place to start, of course, is to look at YOU. Think about what interests or hobbies you have, or what knowledge you have.

Some may be thinking "but I don't know anything" ... hey now, there is a book in all of us. We ALL have knowledge about something that we can share. It could be about your hobbies (quilt making), or something that you are totally interested in (hummingbirds), or knowledge (you suffer from migraines). The idea is to find out how many more people share the same interests, and are looking for goods and services to purchase relating to those interests. Then of course you are prime to offer them these products or services.

So, did you bring your list with you?

Excellent!

I want you to take it out and go through it, and for now just grab one idea that you have. We are going to work with one right now, but, you can cookie cut this process later and work through the rest of the ideas on your list. Do your own ...it's easy, promise!!

Let me share with you my short list and I will go through a few of mine to give you a working example and from there you can work through your list.

migraines
golf
travel
retail business
home schooling

These are a few things that are of interest to me, or in the case of the migraines, I do suffer from them.

So with that said, let's start with one that is less obvious, "migraines" and I will take you through the process of finding out and determining if the niche would be something that I could get into.

First, we want to know if there is a demand for information on migraines. To find out just how popular the word is we need to see just how many times the term "migraine" is searched on over the course of the month.

In order to get this little piece of information we need to use a handy tool that you can access here: Overture

Follow the link and then click on "Advertisers Center." Now in this center you will come across a link for Keyword Search Tool. Click on that and a little box will pop up. We want to do a search on the term "migraine" (or in your case one idea off your list at a time) and hit enter. Once you hit enter a list of search terms will pop up with a number to the left. That number indicates just how many people searched using "Migraine" over the course of the past month.

Here is what it popped back for me to look at:

42200 headache
14305 migraine headache
7877 cluster headache
7349 sinus headache
4924 tension headache
2792 migraine headache
2445 what cause headache
2110 headache rack
2059 pregnancy headache

So, looking at this I see that there are 14305 people who have used the specific term "migraine headache" as a search. That's a fair number, however, what most people look at is a number of between 25,000 up and less than 100,000.

What's that? A search term with 100,000 would be fantastic it means we have a huge market?

In essence you are right, 100,000 is a huge market. But remember "COMPETITION" - that number will also bring a lot of it. We want niches that are going to be a little smaller because it is a path less travelled for everyone else and their dog out there (hmmm, smart dog). But we want to make sure that it is large enough to make sure it is going to be profitable for us.

Another point to consider before going after something with a large keyword search return is the fact that the bidding on keywords in Overture is going to be high. If you get a keyword search term that is in excess of 100,000 then the bids for the keyword get expensive. We can't compete with the large corporations who have a huge ad budget ... again we want to take a path less travelled, yet one that is going to be profitable for us.

Make sense?

Great!

Obviously, the keyword "migraines" is only 14,000+ however, I have a few things I can do if I am not all that confident with the numbers. The keyword "Headaches" is much larger so I could go the more general route and build a larger site around headaches and include the top three that people are searching for information and relief of.

The point I am trying to make is that size does matter - because you obviously want a niche that is going to bring in an income. However, if the niche is a little too small, look at the terms that you are provided with and see if you can encompass a few different topics... REMEMBER THOUGH - STAY ON TOPIC!!

The same holds true if you had a site that had a HUGE keyword search, ummm let's look at, oh GOLF.

Golf
1339703 golf
210348 golf club
156897 golf course
101134 master golf
93992 golf vacation
73896 golf cart
63239 golf channel
54217 equipment used for golf
48659 mini golf
47525 golf ball
39019 callaway golf
34306 golf club used
33387 golf shoes
33244 master golf tournament

Obviously in this case to build a niche site on "golf" alone would be a huge task and of course the competition would be quite stiff. So, what we do here, and with your niche ideas if you come across this, is look for other sub-categories that we can build a niche site around.

Looking at the list I would go for a niche like "golf club used." I would build a site around what to look for when buying used clubs, perhaps have some sort of price comparison tool where a person could compare the used clubs versus new clubs. Maybe even a message board for some form of buy and sell. The possibilities are endles, but the point I wanted to get across was the fact that you can break a niche down as much as you can add to it.

So, now you know how to do a little research to find out if there is enough of a market out there for your niche ideas. We are far from done here, but I think this is a good place to stop for today. Go through your list of ideas and see what the numbers tell you and if you were to go that niche route, what could you add or focus on, assuming your niche is a little smaller or larger. Either way!

In our next session we are going to tackle keywords for your site and some other tools that will help you. Breathe now...it's not hard, and the tools will certainly help you build a site that is going to be seen by the search engines.

There is an excellent resource that will certainly help you with your niche searches and of course the rest of the process we are going to go through. The book is Phil Wiley's Mini Site Profits and you can read the review of it by clicking here: Mini Site Profits

This eCourse is to give you a foundation to work with, with respect to creating profits using Niche Marketing and Affiliate programs. After you go through this course it will give you an understanding of the process of finding good niche topics and some ways to build a site around them. The resources are meant to take the ball further and run with it, and give you insight, tips and ideas on how much further you can profit from them.

It's in YOUR interest to at least check out the links and read the material. It all helps you in the long run.

You did great today!
