Building and marketing a "niche" site of course is no exception. I mean, ya, we have to have our computer, internet access, but is that all we need??? Ummm, no...you still need a few more things that will help

No, I am not trying to be smart here, but, have you ever set out to do something and then found a resource or some report that if you had of read first, would have saved you a huge amount of time (and maybe money) I have, countless times, so, to save you some time and avoid some expensive pitfalls, I want to start with the resources that I consider to be ... the BIBLES OF NICHE MARKETING. Some of these resources are available at no cost, while others you do have to pay for. However, they are well worth the expense and YOU WILL be referring to them a lot during your niche site creation. 1. Mini-Site Profits - By Phil Wiley On a scale from 1-10, I give Phil's book 100 MILLION! He has taken the process of niche marketing and put it into a format that you can follow step-by-step. I mentioned in a previous days lesson that what I provide you through this course is the foundation, Phil takes the ball after the foundation and gives you the total insight on the HOW to make it all come together for you. It is a MUST READ if you are creating any sort of niche site. Mini Site Profits 2. Affiliate Masters Course - By Ken Evoy Ken Evoy's course is quite intense but for good reason. It gives you all the insight and suggestions to help you succeed in creating a niche site and marketing affiliate programs. Take the time to read through the Affiliate Masters Course and put into practice what Ken shows you and you'll have a profit producing niche site of your very own. 3. The Super Affiliate Handbook - By Rosalind Gardner Roslind is a "Super Affiliate" and has made a lot of money creating niche sites and weaving in affiliate programs. She is ONE of many who followed the Affiliate Masters Course and has seen huge success with it, and then of course, wrote about it. You can read about the The Super Affiliate Handbook These 3 resources are THE resource tools you need to help you along. Remember, knowledge is only potential power, if you don't put anything you read from these three books into practice, then nothing is going to come of it. Don't fall into the trap of going out and getting these resources only to have them sit on your hard drive. Get Them ... and THEN...READ THEM!!! Web Hosting / Domain Name Registration ... Why am I talking about these two tools when you think they would be pretty obvious? Well, let me take a few seconds of your time and explain the why. See many people come online and think that they can get by with joining a program and just promoting the affiliate page that comes with it. That isn't going to work for a number of reasons, but from a purely marketing perspective here is why it won't: 1. your niche needs a home...a place where you can drive traffic to and your visitors can see ALL your information pertaining to your specific niche. By marketing just the affiliate page you receive when you join a program, you are not giving your visitor enough good solid information that will help them make a more informed buying decision. 2. ownership is important...you don't own the affiliate page that comes with the program you joined, it belongs to the parent company. If that company goes out of business (and it happens) so do you. A site of your own gives you complete and FULL OWNERSHIP. If you decide to drop a program, not a problem, your site won't be affected. You can add a program as well and all you do is just weave in the affiliate link where it is appropriate. 3. exposure through search engines...keep in mind that search engines are in business too. Their business is to provide THE BEST quality sites that meet the keywords entered by the search requester, based on information. People look to search engines for information, and the search engines look to us (niche site owners) for that information. A search engine's spider will by-pass affiliate pages because they know that these are basically cookie-cutted. It will index one, the one that is provided by the parent affiliate program host. It knows that your no cost affiliate page is just a repeat version of the original and it by-pass it every time. There are all kinds of web hosting and domain registration companies out there. The idea is to find a reliable host and of course a domain company that won't break the bank. Before you get to the tools below, check out this article first to find out how to find and choose the right hosting company for you. It's a quick read and it will really give you some good insight. Web Site Hosting Site Build It!... By far the BEST all round package for hosting/domain registration...well, the works actually is Site Build It!. SBI! is THE tool to use for creating a niche site. It was geared with niche site creation in mind. Now, I could sit here and tell you all about what it can do, but the best thing to do is to check it out yourself. There is a presentation that explains how Site Build It! works and there are some case studies there that you can read which are REAL LIVE examples of niche sites at work. SiteSuccess provides you with hosting packages starting at $3.95/mo and domain registering services for just $7.95/year. We went through the process of finding a niche and doing a little research to see just how popular a niche is online. 1. Overture... During our process of finding a niche we used the search tool at the Overture web site. This tool is still the one to use. Bookmark it, because regardless of what you are doing online, you should go in there and check the popularity of your niches and of course it will give you some good solid insight for keywords as well. Overture 2. Good Keywords... Another tool to use in finding out what people are searching for is Good Keywords. It feeds from Overture in giving you insight into finding niches. It is a no cost software download and you can access it here: Good Keywords Affiliate Programs... Ok, all this content and stuff is great, but you still need to make money, right? I am not going to go into great detail about affiliate programs here, because we are going to be getting into them tomorrow, but...here are a few resources to keep the flow going here. 1. Commission Junction... The GRAND-DADDY of all that is affiliate. Commission Junction links you to well over 300 affiliate programs from some of the top companies around the world. For every niche idea you have, there is an affiliate program to tie into it and Commission Junction should be your first stop to look. Sign up with them, it is available to you at no cost. Commission Junction 2. ClickBank... Another good solid place to look for affiliate programs and products to weave into your niche site. Although the search capability in finding the product/service could use some work. They have a wide range of products and services to affiliate with but you have to do a little searching. Click Bank 3. clixGalore This tool is another merchant program linking site. They have 100s of merchants who offer a wide range of affiliate programs and commission structures to choose from. Clix Galore Signing up as an affiliate with all three sites can be done so at no cost. We'll talk more about affiliate programs next time. There you have it, tools that will certainly help you in your quest of buidling a niche site. We have gone through the resources that will help you every step of the way, to providing you some good solid hosting and domain registering sources. From there you now have a few tools for researching your niches, and resources for finding affiliate programs to tie in with your site. Look through them all and get a feel for the information they provide and the things that they can help you with... then go that step further and USE THEM.
